Devil’s Town

The visit to this unique geomorphological phenomenon is meeting 202 soil figures, 2 springs of exceptionally acid mineral water of specific composition and red colour, contrasts of Mt. Radan, but also entering the world of mystery and imagination.

Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord
This central and spiritual gem of Prolom Banja is of small dimensions, but deep spirituality. The building of the Church began in 2010, when His Holiness of Blessed Memory, Patriarch Irinej of Serbia consecrated the foundation, giving a blessing that the Church is built on an unusual rock with Biblical symbolism; and in 2013, an arch bridge, which bears the Patriarch’s name in his honour, was built.

Lazarica Church
The church was built in the 14th century and was reconstructed at the end of the 19th century: It is a first wooden church built in our neighbourhood. Serbian soldiers from these parts participated in the communion service in Lazarica Church before going to the Battle of Kosovo. In the churchyard are old and young plum trees of grief (šljive žalosnice), growing as silent witnesses of the Serbian tragedy with spirally twisted trunks from the very roots.

Lukovska Banja
At a distance of 58 km from Prolom Banja, on the southern slopes of Mt. Kopaonik, the highest Serbian spa at the height of 681 m above the sea level is found. It is Lukovska Banja, which you will remember by striking green colour of the surrounding nature.
The Spa is known for its abundance of springs of mineral water of different composition and temperature (28 – 68 °C) and clean, mountain air flowing from the surrounding heights.
Lukovska Banja is specific for its springs for eye healing, inhalation and for the preserved King Milutin’s Bath found in the spa, suitable for rehabilitation and treatment of different health conditions.
Above Lukovska Banja, St. George’s Church with bell tower was built and can be reached only with field vehicle or on foot, and is found at the height of 875 m. The Church was built on the so-called Nenad’s Stone, associated with stories about St. Sava, and the incredible view caused the construction of a sightseeing platform.
This day trip includes a real family lunch in Kopaonik and Jelak Hotels, while for the ones who plan a longer stay, there are specialties of the area in the ethno tavern which must be tasted.

Twelfth-Century Monasteries
Rich offer of religious tourism in the surroundings of Prolom Banja includes the first endowments of Stefan Nemanja from the 12th century as well as St. Nikola’s Monastery and the Monastery of the Holy Mother of God. Our area is a treasury of places of worship and cultural and historic landmarks which point to the beginnings of Serbian spirituality and statehood.

Village Pločnik Neolithic site
The Neolithic archaeological site was found by pure chance in 1927, during the construction of the railway in Village Pločnik, which is the reason why it was named after the village. One of the most significant discoveries was in trench 20, where the first copper melting furnaces were found, and the site today is a reconstructed village settlement from 7,500 years ago.
